Filter extracted email addresses
Use popup search, system and example exclusions, Premium domain and keyword filters, and the filters available in other scan workflows.
Open the popup filter control#
Use the filter icon in the popup to choose the scan mode and exclusions. Results refresh when you change these settings. Search narrows the displayed list; the extraction filters determine which detected addresses are accepted.
The system-address and example-address exclusions are available without Premium. Premium enables the popup domain, suffix, included-word and domain-blacklist fields.
Ignore system and example addresses#
The popup system filter excludes patterns such as noreply, no-reply, donotreply, do-not-reply, unsubscribe, mailer-daemon and postmaster. It is a text filter, not a test of whether an address reaches a person.
Ignore example emails is on by default. It excludes addresses whose domain has a complete example label, such as hello@example.com or hello@news.example.org. It does not exclude example@company.com or hello@myexample.com. Turn it off when testing with example-domain addresses.
Filter by domain or suffix#
Enter one domain without the @, such as company.com. In the popup, this matches company.com and its subdomains. Use the suffix field for one domain ending, such as .edu or .co.uk; it is not a file-extension filter.
For exclusions, enter comma-separated domains in the blacklist field. Check a few expected matches and exclusions before exporting the list.
Include specific words#
In the popup, separate included words with commas. Every supplied word must occur somewhere in an address. For example, team, sales keeps an address containing both team and sales; it does not mean team OR sales.
Use fewer words if a filter removes too much. Matching is case-insensitive and applies to the address text, so a keyword may also match the domain portion.
URL list filters work differently#
Bulk scanning has its own Advanced options and stored preferences. Its domain field matches the exact email domain, and its comma-separated included words accept an address containing any supplied word. Its blacklist also matches exact email domains.
Do not assume the popup settings carry over to a URL list run. Review the mode, domain, suffix, keywords and Skip system emails option in that workflow before starting. For a suffix in the URL list form, enter the ending explicitly, such as .edu.
Filter collected emails after capture#
Auto Collection has a separate result filter panel. Narrow its stored list by exact email domain, source URL, last-found date range or whether an address appears on one source page or multiple pages.
These controls filter existing collected records. They do not change the scope of the whole-website crawler or turn a text match into a verified mailbox.
