EMAIL EXTRACTOR DOCS

Back up data and manage storage limits

Export or restore an Email Extractor backup, configure history and Auto Collection capacity, and distinguish data reset from restoring settings.

Export a full backup#

Open Settings in the dashboard and find the data section. Use Export backup to download an Email Extractor JSON backup. It includes supported saved and collected email data, folders, tags, notes, scan history, statistics and settings.

Keep the backup somewhere safe: it contains email lists and source pages. Your license key and temporary full demo results are not included. The backup is a local file, not a cloud synchronization service.

Restore a backup deliberately#

Stop active scans and close other Email Extractor windows before importing. Choose Import backup, select a valid Email Extractor backup file and review the summary before confirming.

Import replaces the current supported data and settings; it does not merge two collections. Export the current state first if you may need it later. Your license is kept unchanged and Auto Collection is turned off, so review its switch after the restore.

  1. Export a backup of any current data you want to preserve.
  2. Stop scans and close other extension windows.
  3. Choose Import backup and select the backup JSON file.
  4. Review the summary and confirm replacement.
  5. Check the restored lists and settings before enabling Auto Collection again.

Set history retention limits#

Storage limits control how much local history is retained, rather than how many scans you can run each day. Free limits are fixed. Premium lets you change the number of retained scans in each category, including Unlimited.

When a history category reaches its limit, the oldest scans and their results are removed as new ones are saved. Lowering a limit can remove older history immediately. Saved emails are kept separately from history rotation.

Manage Auto Collection capacity#

Auto Collection counts unique collected email addresses. At its limit, collection pauses while existing contacts are kept. You can increase its capacity in Premium Settings, including Unlimited, or remove records you no longer need.

Download an export or backup first if you want to preserve records you will remove. Exporting does not delete records or free capacity by itself. Unlimited removes the configured count cap, but your device still has practical storage and performance limits.

Choose the right reset action#

Reset data deletes saved and collected emails, folders, tags, notes, scan history and statistics. It keeps the license and settings. Export a backup before confirming if you need any of those records.

Restore default settings resets interface and scan preferences while keeping your saved data and license. Both operations turn Auto Collection off. Read the confirmation carefully so you use the action that matches your intention.
