Hide, Minimize or Off? Choose How AiHide Handles Google Results

Compare AiHide’s three display modes and choose separate settings for Google AI Overviews and question sections.

Our browser extension lets you hide or minimize Google AI Overviews and related question sections.

AiHide browser extension

Choose Hide to remove a targeted section from view, Minimize to keep access through a Show/Hide control, or Off to leave that category unchanged by AiHide. Apply those choices separately to AI Overview and AI Questions. The best combination depends on which parts of your results page you want to see.

Hide: keep the section out of view

Hide is the direct option when you do not want to read a targeted section. You do not need to make that decision again each time you encounter it in a supported results layout. Choose this mode for a category that consistently interrupts the way you prefer to search.

For example, you might want to open websites directly and have no interest in reading the overview first. Select AI Overview, then Hide. You can still make a separate choice about question sections; hiding one category is not a command to remove every special feature on the page.

The name describes a display change in your browser. It does not mean that the extension deletes Google's content or changes an account-wide preference. Other devices and applications are outside that local display choice.

Minimize: reveal the content when you want it

Minimize is useful when your preference depends on the search. Rather than keeping the full targeted section visible, AiHide gives you a Show/Hide control. You decide when to reveal it without first returning to the popup and changing the category to Off.

Consider a research session where most searches lead you to specific websites, but occasionally a summary or related question is worth inspecting. Minimize keeps that possibility available. You can choose it for overviews, question sections or both, depending on your needs.

The Show/Hide control in this mode belongs to AiHide. It is different from similarly named controls that Google may include within its own search features. Keep that distinction in mind when comparing a tutorial screenshot with the page in front of you.

Off: leave this category alone

Off means AiHide does not apply its hiding or minimizing behavior to the selected category. If Hide has already removed a section from the current page, select Off and reload the results tab to restore it. Off alone cannot recreate an element that was removed. You do not need to uninstall the extension to restore one category.

Off is also useful when comparing views. Change one category, return to the page and refresh if needed. Try to adjust only one setting at a time so it is clear which change produced the result. If you need to disable the whole extension, that is a separate control in your browser's extension manager.

Give each category its own job

AiHide separates AI Overview from AI Questions so that your preferences can differ. Here are three practical starting points:

  • Hide overview, leave questions Off: remove the overview while leaving the question category untouched.
  • Minimize overview, hide questions: keep optional access to the overview and reduce question-box clutter.
  • Minimize both: retain a way to reveal each targeted category when useful.

The AI Questions category includes question sections such as People also ask; its label does not mean every answer there is generated by AI. The People also ask walkthrough explains that category more fully.

Check your choice on the right page

Open a Google results page in the desktop browser and profile where AiHide is installed. Confirm that you selected the relevant category and refresh an older tab if the visible state does not match your change. Remember that Google layouts can evolve, so an unexpected result may need troubleshooting rather than a different preferred mode.

For a first installation, follow our Chrome setup guide. If the extension appears to have no effect, use the troubleshooting checklist. These modes control supported results-page sections; they do not configure Gemini or disable all of Google's AI experiences.
