Can I export WhatsApp Web chats with media?

Yes. ChatVault exports the selected WhatsApp Web conversation into a ZIP backup and can include available photos, videos, audio files, documents, and other attachments when WhatsApp Web makes them accessible in the browser.

Which export formats does ChatVault support?

ChatVault can save WhatsApp Web conversations as HTML, CSV, Excel, TXT, or JSON. HTML is best for reading, CSV and Excel are useful for spreadsheets, TXT is simple to search, and JSON is useful for structured workflows.

Can I export a WhatsApp chat by date range?

Yes. Premium unlocks exact start and end date ranges, which is useful for long conversations, project records, business archives, and repeatable backups.

Does ChatVault upload my WhatsApp messages to a server?

No. ChatVault is designed around a local browser workflow. The selected chat is processed in the browser and the finished ZIP file is downloaded to your device.

Why can some WhatsApp media files be missing from an export?

Media availability depends on what WhatsApp Web can load at export time. If media is missing, open the media in WhatsApp Web, refresh the tab, and run the backup again. ChatVault can include a report file when some media cannot be fetched.

Is ChatVault useful for long WhatsApp conversations?

Yes. Use date ranges to split a long conversation into manageable archives. ChatVault exports messages that WhatsApp Web can load; it cannot recover older history that is only available on your phone.

Can I back up a WhatsApp group conversation?

Yes. Open ChatVault while WhatsApp Web is active, choose the group from Contacts / chats, select an export format, and click Download backup. The archive can include messages and media available in that group on WhatsApp Web.

Why are some older messages missing from my backup?

WhatsApp Web may not have the same message history as your phone. ChatVault can export the messages that WhatsApp Web makes available, but it cannot restore deleted messages or retrieve history that is unavailable in the browser.

How do I open my downloaded chat archive?

Find the ChatVault ZIP in your Downloads folder and extract it first. For an HTML export, open the HTML file in your browser and keep the media folder beside it. Other formats can be opened in a text editor or compatible spreadsheet application.

Should I keep ChatVault open while the backup is running?

Yes. Keep the ChatVault popup open and WhatsApp Web active until you see ZIP downloaded. Clicking outside the popup can close it and interrupt the export. After the download finishes, you can close ChatVault and check your archive.
